The town of Riverton lies within the
Wind River Indian
Reservation on land ceded in 1904.
Rendezvous were held in
this valley in 1829, 1830, and 1838, and a reenactment is celebrated each July.
Riverton was also the hometown of Leslie King, a prominent rancher who was
President Gerald Ford's father.
