Thermopolis is an attractive town snuggled into a lovely niche between the Bighorn River and the surrounding red hills.  Thermopolis features remarkably wide streets designed to allow a sixteen-horse team to flip a U-turn.  It also has an interesting local museum and two major attractions -- hot springs and the Wyoming Dinosaur Museum and nearby digs.

The Legend Rock Petroglyph Site northwest of Thermopolis has not yet achieved "major attraction" status, but the sandstone cliffs of the area display nearly 300 different examples of early American rock art, including a huge flying rabbit and some that look like X-rays.  All told, Thermopolis is a great place to kick back and relax on your way through Wyoming.
