Fort Fred Steele
1868 - 1886

Named after Major General Frederick Steele, the fort protected Union Pacific work crews, guarded the railroad crossing on the North Platte River, and reinforced civil authorities in Rawlins.  The site is located 7 miles east of Sinclair on I-80.
