North Platte valley |
The North Platte Valley is
packed with history. It was the route west for the Mormon, California,
and Oregon Trails; the Overland Stage Route; and the Pony Express. It
was also the jumping off place for the Bridger and Bozeman Trails and was crossed
by the Cheyenne-Deadwood Stage Route. The Valley is home to three forts
which played prominent roles in the Indian Wars of the 1860's. Be sure
to leave plenty of time to explore the rich variety of sites in the area. |
