HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Dayton---Western flair and warm natural
wood trimmings greet guests at the White Horse Bed and Breakfast on Main Street.
"I'm an adventurous person, and I like people, and I like cooking,"
Sandra Bigelow said.
The White Horse Bed and Breakfast building at 306 Main Street was constructed
in 1904 and has served as a hotel, house of ill repute, rooming house, apartments,
doctor's office, barber shop and pool hall.
Sandra brought in her own furniture and decorations for the new house. Most are
family heirlooms and antiques.
The three rooms for guests are set up around themes.
The Wild West Room features two
log-frame double beds, and pictures of western scenes and cowboy hats hang on
the walls.
The Chief White Horse Room is more
in Native American motif with decorative bed spreads on the two double beds.
Grandma Gertie's Room has one double bed and is decorated in the spirit
of Sandra Bigelow's mother, whose name was Gertie. The room has more of a feminine
flair and is more focused toward women staying at the bed and breakfast.
Each room has its own private bath and a large deck is accessed off a second floor
sitting room at the top of the stairs.
The first floor features a dining room, living room with fireplace and the kitchen
and laundry facilities.
The White Horse Bed and Breakfast is available for meetings, receptions or other
events.
Thank you for stopping by.
Best Western Regards,
Sandy Bigelow
